a flowering of Connection

reflections of a sharing subtle & powerful

Saying For Today: This felt like a subtle lightening storm, both inside and outside the body, though such appears a contradiction. How can one undergo a subtle lightening storm?

The following writing is based on an event of spiritual connection, or connection, when I was serving as a hospice chaplain in Florida, USA. This event is interwoven within the presentation. One may find the writing, as much of mine now, best approached as a series of reflections, here circling around the account. Indeed, this is reminiscent of my addressing how I speak of thoughts and feelings circling around our moment of connection with another. So, one will likely sense a free flow to the writing, as I have not imposed on the work some prior sense of order: simply put, Spirit, like the Wind, can express a singleness of purpose without any apparently logical order at all. The writing, likewise, is intended not to answer all questions that may arise in the reader, but to leave one with questions to live with and allow Truth to teach him or her. And while some of the work may appear logical, the writing itself, again, is more meditative reflection intended to be listened to with the heart, seeing the writing as only a means to Truth showing itself to you. If one tries to grasp an understanding, he or she is no longer listening, not in this contemplative sense, but grasping at Truth. Relax, move through this presentation as a journey, from nowhere to nowhere, more as an experience, than a teaching. Stop, at any point, and leave off, if needed, to reflect on what has been received or to allow it to rest silently within, return later, then. I recommend, however, you read this work through at one time, if possible, initially. One might see Truth as expressing poetically, providing the reader evocative hints, even the prose below being a sign to lead one through understanding, not to understanding. Finally, the work is riddled with contradiction, for to 'pull down' a nondual event into language is to reduce it. Yet, the contradictions, essential, are part of the pointer to the non-contradictory, beautiful Truth. the way of Beauty is to express
the expression unseen creates a seen correspondence of itself
moving through the seen you move into the unseen
falling in love with the manifest you fall into love with Love
this Beauty is relational in expression, is revelatory in essence
never seen is this Loveliness in a holy book
never met is this Gracefulness in a holy place
no one can show you the way to this beyond even subtle
free of the sacred it sacralizes the appearance of the common
to see it in the other is to see yourself
you are this but not you as you appear
Beauty is not an appearance yet appears
is graceful, for of Grace

I had been sitting with this dear granddaughter of a patient, and something very powerful was happening, something I could not control. I could see and admire her remarkable physical beauty, but this something happening was more. There was another attraction, a confusing one, that had arisen after entering the home. I will do my best to describe it. Yet, in all like attempts, such is impossible to word. Those listening through the words, not merely to the words, will see a meeting can be absolutely beautiful, for being an expression of Beauty, a Loveliness so lovely it cannot be known through the senses, as what is usually meant by seeing beauty.

The beauty of Your appearance
let it not be, to me, Your Beauty
admiring the veil of Loveliness
I am drawn to the Lover
Seeing the rose
I long to see the Rose

The beauty of being human is the capacity and desire for intimacy. Yet we know that even those who are most intimate remain strange to us. Like children, we often “make strange” with each other.
